This week I began the production stage of my final project, the first thing I needed was my schedule this would tell me what I needed to week-by-week so I made sure that I was staying on target and getting all of the things done in time, I have strategically planned out the schedule so I get all of the writing side of the piece finished first, I chose to do the writing side of the project first because I know that if I set myself the task of working on inDesign and PhotoShop first, I will spend a lot of time making sure that I get it looking good, which will possibly leave me with no time to do the writing side. So instead, I am doing the writing side first to ensure I get it all done.
Another thing I have completed this week is the bookings for my photo shoots, I have decided to do two shoots because I have to take pictures for three different articles, one of which is a triple page spread. The triple page spread article has its own photo shoot, this is to ensure that I get enough pictures and the pictures that I take are of good quality, and are what I actually need. This shoot is on Wednesday, January 30th at 3.10, this is just after one of my media lessons, I chose to book the shoot then so I can get all of my things ready in the lesson so I can arrive at the shoot and get on with it. The other shoot I have booked is for the other two articles in my piece, the 'album' article and the new article 'how to become a rock star' I decided to do these two shoots in one slot because one of the models is in both shoots so they can be there instead of having to make it to two shoots. The new article I have decided to do (instead of the battle of the bands review) will have imagery taken for it, for that I will have to collect props, some of which I already own. I have decided to make the article joker and have the model dress as a cliche 'rock star' in the leather jackets, big hair and guitars.
In my schedule I have taken into account when my exams are, I only have one exam in January so I have made sure that the week of the exam is clear of any difficult tasks so I can focus purely on the exam. My schedule is realistic, I have not given myself too many tasks to do in a week that I probably couldn't finish and I have worked it around exams and other subjects coursework deadlines so I have a realistic schedule that i can follow throughout the whole production stage.
After finishing my schedule, I realised that I haven't gave myself any contingency time in case my articles aren't written in time, or my photo shoots are cancelled. I have the soft ware at home (Photoshop and InDesign) so if there are any visual problems that I cannot finish within the lesson I can sort them out at home, I can also sort out any article writing problems at home, the only problem that could arise is with regards to the shoots, If the models don' t turn up or the shoot get's cancelled, I have no other time to book them other than my free study time.
